Creatures and Company was created by Nicole Hoekstra, a long-time supporter of animal welfare issues.  Her basic concept was to create an adoption environment which would mimic a home-like setting, thereby creating a safe, sheltering space that would allow the animals to better transition to their new adoptive homes.
